Walk Across the Mahicantuck (Hudson River)

RAIN - OR - SHINE: with the forecast for possible showers, bring your umbrella!

This Faiths 4 Climate Justice event is being organized by the "inter-faith break-out group" at the July 22nd meeting of the Environmental Crisis Planning Forum co-hosted by Basilica Hudson, the Columbia Land Conservancy, and the Buddhist Action Coalition.

In the afternoon of Sunday, October 17, those of us within the Upper Hudson Valley and surrounding hills will assemble along the Mahicantuck (Hudson River) to raise our collective voice for climate justice as we walk across the Rip Van Winkle Bridge.

Bring a small drum or a tambourine or a small bell to ring… and a sign or small banner from your faith group or environmental organization.

Assemble at 3:30: two groups will assemble - one on each end of the bridge - for a brief statement of purpose... scroll down for more information on assembly locations.

Walk at 3:50: both groups will begin walking toward the center of the Rip Van Winkle Bridge.

Reflection at 4:15: when both groups connect at the middle, we will stop for a moment of silence followed with the sound of drums, tambourines, and bells.

Walk at 4:25: both groups will return to their beginning points.

Reassemble 4:50: both groups will assemble - one on each end of the bridge - for a brief benediction.
